Texas Driving Test Only

YES, you can take the Driving Test at Mckinney Driving school instead of testing at the Texas Department of Public Safety. This means that you can avoid the long wait for a driving test at the TDPS.

Please Note: Mckinney Driving school is partnered with and licensed through SafeKeys Driving School for Driving Test Services.

YOU QUALIFY TO TAKE A ROAD TEST IF:

 You are between the ages of 16 or 17 and,

 Have a valid Texas Learner’s Driving Permit (with picture on it) and have held permit for a minimum of 6 months.

 Have completed an approved Teen Driver Education Program (32 Classroom hours and 14 In/Car hours of instruction).

 Must have a DE-964 (Commercial Driving School) and/or PT-964 (Parent Taught) completion certificate.

 You must watch a two (2) hour Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) video. and have a valid completion certificate (expires 90 days after date of issue).You will need to download, print.

Bring all documents printed and signed.

Parent must accompany applicant to sign required documents for the Texas Department of Public Safety.

ROAD TEST INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

  You can use your own car for the test, or optionally you can rent the driving school car for $35 to use for the test.

  Test criteria provided to applicant prior to administration of the test.

 Upon completion of the driving test, the examiner will tell the applicant of any errors made during the driving test and advise the applicant how to correct those errors.

Note: You must meet the qualifications shown on this page to take your driving test. We cannot do the driving test if the student does not meet the requirements.
