Winter Driving
The Princeton Stars Driving School Winter Driving Course is America’s most advanced driver’s training system. We designed this course for all drivers, and it goes beyond the defensive driver training offered by other courses. It will take you to the highest level of safe driving, known as proactive driving.

Programs Overview
This course will teach you skills to keep you safe in limited traction conditions, such as driving on ice and snow. The course lasts an entire day. It starts with morning classroom sessions where you will learn important information about winter driving techniques, vehicle knowledge, the best tires, and maintenance. We will use our unique driving methodology to teach you the correct use of controls, mirror positioning, vision training, information processing, and driver psychology.
During the afternoon, you will practice what you learned in the classroom. You will participate in driving exercises to help you apply the new information and improve your skills. We will teach you how to prepare for winter driving and read road conditions. You will not only learn how to avoid skids but also how to recover from one in your vehicle. In addition, we will explain ABS brakes, Automatic Traction Control, emergency braking, tire grip limits, skid recovery, and much more in these friendly classroom sessions.
Classroom Instruction

- Tips for driving in the dark
- Dealing with slippery road surfaces and traction problems
- Learning about understeer and oversteer
- Mastering skid control and recovery techniques
- Driving defensively to prevent collisions
- Handling roadside emergencies.
Driving Instruction
Our behind the wheel training program consists of two days of training, with each day lasting for 1.5 hours. During this training, students will drive our dual controlled vehicles. All our instructors are certified, and we equip them to teach students of all experience levels.
- Proper use of brakes
- Starting/Stopping on icy roads
- Skid Control and Recovery Techniques
- Adjusting speed and space for hazardous road conditions
- Low visibility conditions
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must have held the permit for a minimum of 9 months.
- Must have completed the Driver’s Lesson Course.
- Must have completed 30 hours of additional behind-the-wheel practice.
- Must have obtained a letter of eligibility from the State.
